Did you know? Comply Advantage and Companies House checks through PASS
Our clients use our software to more efficiently, effectively and quickly process background checks. However, many of our clients aware of all the checks PASS can run.
The more checks that run from PASS the more benefits it drives. This is because you can reconcile all your checks into one location – providing a clear audit trail and work stream and preventing wasted time through double entry of data.
We thought it would be useful to let you know more about two of our data sources; Comply Advantage and Companies House. Both are fully integrated with PASS and it is an easy process to add them to your current configuration.
There are four Comply Advantage checks; Adverse Media, Sanctions, PEP and Combined
Adverse media or negative news is defined as any kind of unfavourable information found across a wide variety of news sources – both ‘traditional’ news outlets and those from unstructured sources. The risks associated with conducting business with persons or companies having an adverse media profile are many and varied.
Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) are considered high risk in today’s regulatory environment. This check helps you to comply with internal, domestic and international Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorist Finance (CTF), and sanctions enforcement regulations.
Sanctions may be levelled as a result of an illegal activity or to achieve a foreign policy/diplomatic aim. They are normally passed by act of government, or by an international authority: United Nations Security Council Resolution, for example.
The Combined check is a combination of all the above Comply Advantage data checks.
There are two types of Companies House searches: Officer Search and Disqualified Search.
Officer Searches check the candidate’s details against the Companies House officer database to see what limited companies an individual has been a director and secretary of.
Disqualified Search matches any of the candidate’s details with the Companies House disqualified directors register. This will return any person who is personally insolvent, what's known as 'an undischarged bankrupt', or someone disqualified by a court order for implication in dishonesty or fraud punishable by imprisonment.
